After a successful 2024 season of excavation, Udig once again, is putting together a team and would like to offer you a thrilling opportunity to take part in this exciting research training excavation within the grounds of Stanwick Hall.

A quality learning experience at Stanwick Hall
The owners of Stanwick Hall are generously giving Udig access to its parkland, providing Udig with an opportunity to train budding archaeologists and enthusiasts in the art of archaeological excavation while further expanding the history of the Hall, its grounds and Stanwick village.

Join the team and discover what lies beneath the ancient earthworks within the grounds of Stanwick Hall’s parkland. Building platforms, trackways and ridge and furrow abound and await exploration by the team.

WE WANT ENTHUSIASTS OF ALL AGES
Team Members aged 8+ can attend but will need to be accompanied by an adult.
A minimum of one adult per two children. Those 17+ years can attend with a signed letter of permission from a parent or guardian.
This exciting offer is open to all, from home or abroad.
You are welcome to join the team for as long as you wish; two weeks is recommended for a more complete learning experience. During your time with us, you will have ample opportunity to take part in an interesting and varied range of archaeological activities under the guidance of trained archaeologists; and for future reference, you can make a record of all your efforts within your very own Skills Passport.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SPENDING TIME WITH YOU.
Each Team Pass provides access to the site from 2.30 pm on the Saturday of that digging week until 11 am on Saturday of the following week. The experience includes a programme of six full days of archaeological on-site processes from excavation to post-excavation.
Each booking includes free on-site camping within the Hall’s parkland. You’ll need to bring your own tent or we have space for a small number of caravans or RVs. Additionally, we have rooms at the next door Stanwick Hotel for those who do not wish to camp. The hotel rooms will be available at a subsidised rate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Finally, if you’re looking to stay on site but do not wish to camp, why not rent the stunning Stanwick Hall cottage, a beautiful barn conversion with two en-suite double-bedrooms? Details of how to reserve your accommodation will be provided when you book your Team Pass but in the meantime, take a look at our accommodation page here.
*Prices fixed at £695 per week until the 12th January 2025, increasing to £795 per week from 13th January 2025. Team members booking their Team Pass before the 13th January 2025 will also receive a free Udig toolbag containing a Udig hoodie, trowel, tape measure, delicate excavation kit and an Archaeology Skills Passport. Team members booking after the 12th January 2025 will only be entitled to a free toolbag and contents, if booking for 14 days or more.

Udig Archaeology Limited is excited to offer you an opportunity to take part in a fully immersive, long season of archaeological research and excavation, beginning in May and continuing for five consecutive months.
